|Varicose and Spider Veins
Thursday, November 17th, 2011
Used to be, the only way to get rid of varicose veins was to undergo a painful surgical procedure known as vein stripping. Â Lots of people live with varicose veins because they are afraid that is the only treatment available. Â Not so any more. Â For the last ten years, we have been successfully treating varicose veins with comfortable non-surgical techniques. Â Instead of cutting veins with a knife (think heart bypass surgery…), we can shrink them with medicine, and close deeper larger ones with a laser fiber through a needle, using only local numbing medicine (think angioplasty, but in reverse…). Â You can drive yourself home after the procedure, which usually takes less than one hour. Â Even the most severe gnarly-looking varicose veins can be treated non-surgically, making your legs look and feel better. Â Many people with varicose veins and leg cramps, after treating the veins, report striking improvement in cramping and pain.
The most common response I hear after treatment is, “wow, that wasn’t bad at all – I can’t believe I waited so long to do this!” Now that the weather has cooled, come see us and think about wearing shorts again. Â Â We have simple techniques for eliminating spider veins on the face legs and body as well. Â Injecting spider veins is a fine art – believe me, you don’t want to be injected by a novice who has been doing it for a few months. Â I specialize in injection therapies, and have been eliminating veins for over 10 years, every day. Â It is important to be injected correctly, to eliminate the source of the veins (i.e., so they do not return for a long time!) as well as to reduce the number of required treatments.
Have a great holiday season,
